6,6′-Di-(2″-thiophenol)-2,2′-bipyridine

This short note describes the synthesis of compound 6,6′-di-(2″-thiophenol)-2,2′-bipyridine from its methyl phenyl sulfane precursor via deprotection groups. The product as well intermediate in synthetic route have been characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, 1H- and 13C-NMR FT-IR HR-MS analysis. work presents a rare example tetradentate chelators that bears pyridyl backbones thiophenol donors for coordination with 3d-transition metal cations.
